Astromech Droids were a type of maintenance droid that were used commonly as a repair unit for starships. For secondary purposes, astromech droids could override auto-turrets, open sealed doors, and even reprogram other droids, other computer slicing activities, janitorial, and even messenger duties. Starfighter pilots were also known to have a personal astromech droid to pilot their ships during the Clone Wars.

Appearance[]

All standard versions of Astromech Droids were 1.1 feet high in length and often had a cylindrical base. They also came in a variety of colors and designs, depending on the owner's preference. Their colors included combinations of white, black, grey, blue, green, brown, orange, red, and purple. The heads of Astromech Droids were generally conical, each series having different particular shapes depending on its model.

Equipment[]

These droids commonly moved on three-wheeled feet, two of which were directly below powerful boosters that supported limited flight capabilities; however, this was not always the case. Astromech Droids had various built-in tools, including buzz saws, electrical prods, fusion welders, hologram projectors, oil injectors, hidden compartments, claw-like mechanical arms, fire extinguishers, and many others, mostly different for each model and owner.
