Jedi Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Tiplee led an attack on a Mandalorian supply outpost in 20 BBY, shortly after the battle of Ord Mantell. The mission began when Kenobi and Tiplee investigated the lead that Mandalore was still in league with Darth Maul's crime syndicate, the Shadow Collective. They also learned that Dooku was personally attempting to do away with Maul, prompting an opportunity for the Republic to capture them both and end the war.

In the aftermath of the blitz on Ord Mantell, a Jedi strike team―composed of Mace Windu, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Tiplee, and Aayla Secura―arrived to investigate possible reports from the surviving natives that Darth Maul battled against Count Dooku. In the wreckage, they discovered a Mandalorian helmet, confirming reports from the resistance on Mandalore that Prime Minister Almec was still connected to the underworld. To prevent Mandalore from falling to the Separatists, Kenobi and Tiplee were sent to investigate a Mandalorian supply outpost in the same system.
Little did the Republic forces know that Maul had captured both Dooku and General Grievous on Ord Mantell and held them prisoner in the outpost. Maul offered Dooku an alliance with himself and the Nightsister leader, Mother Talzin, rather than continue to be Darth Sidious's expendable slave. When the Republic attacked, Dooku used the Force to free Grievous from his cell―enabling his escape from the outpost―and accepted Maul's offer before confronting the Jedi's boarding forces.
Having detected the outpost within the asteroid field, Kenobi and Tiplee launched their Gunships and Z-95 Starfighters, meeting heavy resistance from the Mandalorians' Gauntlet Fighters. They boarded in the outpost's main hangar and battled against Maul's Mandalorian Super Commandos until Maul and Dooku joined the battle, leading the Jedi to believe they were working together.
Reinforcements provided by Windu and Secura soon joined the battle, and a duel ensued: Windu and Secura dueled Maul while Kenobi and Tiplee battled Dooku. Using Force lightning to gain the upper hand, Dooku killed Tiplee, much to Kenobi's distress. Mandalorian commanders Gar Saxon and Rook Kast fired a rocket at Windu and Secura, knocking them unconscious and allowing Maul and Dooku to escape aboard a Gauntlet fighter.
The remaining Mandalorians either fled or surrendered to the Republic, and the outpost was taken. When Windu resumed consciousness, he was contacted by Chancellor Palpatine. Secretly both Maul and Dooku's master, Palpatine, allowed the Jedi to believe that Dooku was the Sith Master and Maul was his apprentice and that their combined threat could spell doom for the Republic.
