The Battle at Patitite Pattuna broke out in 21 BBY during the Clone Wars when Jedi Master Adi Gallia's Venator-class Star Destroyer was attacked by a Confederate fleet led by General Grievous while returning to Coruscant, with protocol droid C-3PO and Astromech Droid R2-D2 aboard. Grievous and his fleet ambushed the cruiser and quickly disabled it by firing a direct hit on the main reactor. The droids then launched a boarding party led by Grievous to capture Gallia. Though Gallia and her troops of the 91st Reconnaissance Corps battled Grievous and the droids while non-essential personal evacuated, they were overwhelmed by the droid forces; many of the troopers were killed and Gallia was defeated in a lightsaber duel with Grievous. Many Y-Wing Starfighters engaged the incoming Vulture Droids that Grievous launched from his ship. Once she was taken prisoner, Grievous returned with her and his droids to his command ship and destroyed the cruiser. R2-D2 and C-3PO narrowly escaped destruction by fleeing to Balnab aboard a Y-Wing Starfighter.
Jedi Master Plo Koon and Commander Wolffe would eventually launch an attack on Grievous's cruiser to rescue Gallia―and R2 and 3PO subsequently.
