The Battle of Scipio took place in 20 BBY when the Confederacy of Independent Systems launched an invasion on Scipio shortly after Senator Rush Clovis became head of the InterGalactic Banking Clan. While Clovis came to an agreement with the Galactic Republic to clear corruption and not be biased to either side of the war, Count Dooku, who provided him with the information necessary to become leader of the banks, threatened to expose Clovis's true nature if the latter did not raise interest rates on the Republic to compensate for the Confederacy's alleged inability to pay their loans back. After Clovis agreed to this, the Separatists occupied Scipio and imprisoned Senator Padmé Amidala. In an attempt to preserve the banks, the Republic deployed a task force to liberate the planet, led by Anakin Skywalker.
