- "The Republic recognizes the tragedy of war. But there is nothing we can change that has already occurred."
"Say it aloud before this gathering—as representative for Chancellor Palpatine that you declare, without reservation, the Separatist state legitimate." - ―Padmé Amidala and Voe Attell, during the peace conference
The Confederate–Republic peace conference took place in 21 BBY when diplomats of both sides of the Clone Wars–the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems–convened on Mandalore to discuss terms of negotiating peace between the two, presided over by Duchess Satine Kryze. The Republic dispatched Senators Padmé Amidala, Bail Organa and Mon Mothma accompanied by Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano, while the Separatists were represented by Voe Attell, Bec Lawise and a Gossam senator.
The Republic stated that they sought peace, but their actions could not be reverted. Senator Attel argued that the Republic needed to treat the Confederacy as a separate, legitimate state in order for peace talks to succeed. However, during the conference, Lux Bonteri entered and voiced his own opinion of the Confederates, accusing their leader Count Dooku of being responsible for his mother, senator Mina Bonteri's murder. He was consequentially escorted out by two BX-Series Droid Commandos to be brought before Dooku via hologram.
Ahsoka Tano quickly went after them and freed Bonteri from his captors, eventually causing a firefight to break out on a landing platform between the Commando Droids and the Senate Guards. Meanwhile, the negotiations between the senators had failed.
