Dao was a male Admiral who served in the Clone Wars with Jedi Ima-Gun-Di and participated in the Battle of Ryloth. During the battle, Dao tried to break through the Separatist blockade in order for relief supplies to reach Di and his men. While contacting the Jedi Temple requesting help be sent to Ryloth, one of Dao's bridge officers alerted him that they'd lost all power and were dead in space. Dao repeated his plea for reinforcements before he and his crew were killed when their ship was destroyed moments later.

Dao's name is an anagram for "DOA", which stands for "Dead On Arrival", in reference to his character dying in his debut appearance. He was voiced by James Arnold Taylor.
