Asajj and Anakin at a hold with their lightsabers
This Duel on Yavin 4 was a lightsaber battle between Anakin Skywalker and Asajj Ventress that took place in 22 BBY on the jungle moon of Yavin 4, during the Clone Wars. Ventress had been dispatched by her Master, Count Dooku, to prove herself by assassinating Skywalker, who was at the time leading his clone forces during the Battle of Muunilinst. Skywalker was piloting his Jedi starfighter in space over Muunilinst when he sensed the presence of Ventress, who flew her own starfighter, through the Force.
Skywalker pursued her to Yavin 4 against the orders of his Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi and, in response, Kenobi sent a squad of clone troopers to provide support for his apprentice. Soon after landing, the squad was wiped out by Ventress, who also destroyed Skywalker's starfighter and the astromech droid. The assassin revealed herself to Skywalker and the two engaged in combat. Dueling through the forest, Ventress goaded Skywalker as they approached an ancient Massassi temple, where they continued their fight. After losing his lightsaber and confiscating one of his opponent's, Skywalker drew on his hatred of Ventress and attacked her with great force. His blows caused the cliff she stood upon to break and she fell into the ravine below.
Victorious, the Padawan assumed she had died and acquired her ship as a means of getting off the planet. However, Ventress had survived and went on to fight in future Confederate campaigns.
