Caleb Dume was a young Jedi Padawan who was apprenticed to Depa Billaba during the Clone Wars. In the waning days of the Republic, Caleb, accompanied by his master, was in attendance of a war meeting consisting of Yoda, Mace Windu, Plo Koon, Aayla Secura, Commander Bly, Ki-Adi-Mundi, and Commander Bacara.

Caleb Dume served with his master in the Conquest of Kaller, at which time Order 66 was issued and the clones turned against the Jedi. Billaba gave her life holding the clones off while Caleb escaped. In the years that followed, Caleb lived on the run from the Empire, eventually changing his name to Kanan Jarrus.

Biography[]

Aftermath[]

Caleb was sent by his master to retrieve reinforcements when their troops were overwhelmed by advancing Separatist forces. He returned with only five clones, which Billaba and Clone Captain Grey thought would not be enough. Caleb assured them both that these clones were "different." The clones were Clone Force 99, genetically modified Clone Commandos who swiftly turned the tide of the battle on their own.

After clearing both the droids and their tanks, Sergeant Hunter recommended that Billaba launch a counterattack before the droids could attack again. Though Grey protested, Billaba agreed and had Clone Force 99 spearhead the assault. Caleb eagerly asked his master if he could join them, which she agreed to. Just then, however, Captain Grey received a transmission from Supreme Chancellor Palpatine to execute order 66. Forced to obey by control chips in their brains, Grey and the rest of Billaba's troops opened fire on the Jedi. Caleb saw this and rushed back to help his master. Her defense faltering, Billaba ordered her padawan to run.

Caleb Aftermath

Caleb wards off the clones during Order 66.

Hesitantly obliging, Caleb fled as his master was gunned down. When he saw the Bad Batch, he assumed they had also turned against him and ordered them to stay away. He fled into the forest, unaware that most members of the squad were immune to the order. Hunter and Crosshair pursued Caleb, finding the young Jedi hiding on a tree branch. Hunter attempted to coax him down, promising that they wouldn't hurt him, when Crosshair suddenly fired on the Jedi. Enraged at the betrayal, Caleb fled deeper into the woods. Crosshair ignored Hunter's orders and continued to fire on the padawan. Caleb fought back, eventually knocking the clone unconscious with a Force push.

Caleb was chased to the edge of a waterfall. Hunter tried to reason with him, saying again that he only wanted to help. Confused and hurt, Caleb rejected Hunter's offer and escaped with a leap across the falls. Later, Hunter would tell Crosshair and the others that he stunned the padawan mid-air and he didn't live, though Crosshair suspected otherwise.
