Onderon was an Inner Rim planet with a dense jungle stretching across its surface that was home to many vicious wild animal species. The planet has been traditionally ruled by a monarchy with allegiance to the Republic. However during the Clone Wars Onderon became a member planet of the Separatist Confederacy and was represented in the CIS Senate by Mina Bonteri with her son Lux filling this role after Mina's death.

History

Clone Wars

At the start of the Clone Wars, the Confederacy of Independent Systems assumed control of the planet, placing a deceitful leader as king. Later on in the war, a pro-Republic rebel movement began with the hope of driving the Separatist government from the planet. Initially the rebels were able to achieve a small list of hard fought but ultimately meaningless victories prompting them to ask the Jedi for assistance. The Order, however, had other strategic plans and chose not to launch a full offensive, but with considerable convincing from Anakin Skywalker, the Jedi Council would allow himself, Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi and a small combat unit of Clone troopers to provide aid to the rebels. Once they arrived, they began to train the inexperienced rebel fighting forces while providing them with equipment. Once the Council believed their mission complete, the Jedi advisors departed, leaving Ahsoka as the Republic liason to the group on the planet.
