Synopsis[]

Shattered Ahsoka & Bo 1

Ahsoka and Bo-Katan reflect on the Siege of Mandalore.

At the conclusion of the Siege of Mandalore, Ahsoka Tano and Commander Rex return Maul to the surface where Bo-Katan Kryze greets them. She is impressed that they managed to capture Maul, but is wary of the cost on the Mandalorian people. Much of Sundari was ravaged by the battle and Bo-Katan wishes she could accomplish more than war, never understanding the idealism of her sister. Ahsoka reaffirms her that she is the strong leader that her people need.

Rex informs Ahsoka that the Jedi Council is awaiting an update from her. Ahsoka asks if Anakin is present, to which Rex replies he was when he left. Before Ahsoka arrives at the meeting, Mace Windu discusses his suspicions on how the Dark Side of the Force surrounds Chancellor Palpatine. Ki-Adi-Mundi suggests that he should be removed from office if he does not relinquish his emergency powers, to which Windu replies that the Jedi Council would have to take control of the Galactic Senate. Yoda warns that this line of thought will lead to a dark place. The Council then greets Ahsoka, who informs them of Maul's capture. Yoda thanks her for her service to the Republic, but Ahsoka says she merely did her duty as a citizen. She asks to speak to Anakin, but Windu tells her that he went to inform the Chancellor of Obi-Wan Kenobi's assault on Grievous and his forces.

Ahsoka leaves Bo-Katan as regent of Mandalore.

The council members then depart, except for Yoda who asks if she has a message for Anakin. Ahsoka replies that she will tell Anakin when she sees him. Yoda parts with her saying, "May the Force be with you." Ahsoka and Rex return to the landing platform where Bo-Katan, Ursa Wren, and the Nite Owls bring Maul out in a specialized Force-wielder prison from an ancient era, back when the Mandalorians regularly captured Jedi. After handing Maul over to the Republic, Bo-Katan shakes hands with Ahsoka and they part ways.

Ahsoka and Rex transport Maul to their Republic cruiser aboard a Rho-class shuttle, with Maul eyeing them menacingly en route. He is transferred to a secure cell while Ahsoka and Rex go to the bridge. After jumping to hyperspace, Rex notices that Ahsoka is distracted. She reflects on how the Jedi were never meant to be soldiers, yet she's been one ever since she was a Padawan. Rex adds that the Clone Troopers have mixed feelings about the war, given that it was the cause for their very existence. Ahsoka decides that the Republic's soldiers, as well as her friendship with Rex, are the best things to come out of the war. They offer each other heartfelt salutes. Rex is then summoned to the war room for updates on the Outer Rim Sieges while Ahsoka chooses to remain on the bridge.

Shattered-order-66

Rex momentarily resists Order 66 to warn Ahsoka.

Before long, she is overwhelmed by several voices through the Force: she hears Anakin Skywalker and Mace Windu as they encounter Darth Sidious, with Anakin rushing to Sidious's defense and allowing the Sith to kill Windu, completing Anakin's fall to the Dark Side. Realizing that Anakin is in trouble, Ahsoka rushes to tell Rex. But Rex has already been contacted by Sidious, who issues Order 66. The order is relayed to all clones aboard the ship, but before they can attack, Rex fights the programming of his inhibitor chip. He urges Ahsoka to find Fives, who is long dead, before he opens fire on her.

Cornered by Jesse and his troopers in the bridge's war room, Ahsoka deflects blaster fire before carving her way through the ceiling and escaping. Rex briefs his men that the Jedi have been branded traitors to the Republic and that any clone who does not comply is also to be killed for treason. He also orders the Clone Shock Troopers to execute Maul. Before they can do so, however, Ahsoka appears in the brig and incapacitates the guards. She frees Maul and demands to know if this was his doing. Maul laughs and tells her that it was Sidious's doing. Though he was not privy to his master's plan, Maul now realizes that it involved turning the Jedi's own army against them. He suggests that he and Ahsoka work together to escape and demands she loan him one of her lightsabers, but she has set him loose simply as a distraction while she finds answers on her own.

Shattered Ahsoka & Rex

Ahsoka pleads with Rex via holomessage.

Rex has his men search the ship for Ahsoka, ordering all escape pods destroyed and the main hangar locked down. Evading the clones, Ahsoka finds her former astromech copilot R7-A7 along with two other droids, RG-G1 and "Cheep", who are willing to help her. Ahsoka has R7 search the ship's main computer for secure files on Fives. R7 pulls up Kaminoan scientist Nala Se's report: Se concludes that the removal of Fives's inhibitor chip led to his death, dismissing his rogue investigation and Rex's grievance. Ahsoka accesses the encrypted file, using Anakin's personal passcode 8108. In his grievance, Rex expressed his concern that the inhibitor chips may have an unknown purpose as Fives insisted.

Meanwhile, Maul carves a path of destruction across the ship, battling the Clone Troopers of the 332nd Company and Coruscant Guard. He uses the Force to rip bulkhead paneling from the walls for use as shields and weapons. The clones fall back, sealing the blast doors as they go, but Maul seizes one trooper and allows the closing door to amputate his arm. From the severed comlink, Maul learns that they are trying to redirect his advance away from the main hangar. Rex rushes to assist but is cut off by R7-A7 and Cheep. R7 displays a holographic message of Ahsoka, telling Rex that she knows about the chips and may have a way to save him. Rex demands R7 to tell him where Ahsoka is, only for Ahsoka to appear behind him. Before he can shoot, the droids stun him. Ahsoka has them carry him to the medical bay.

Shattered Ahsoka & Rex Mind Meld

Ahsoka connects with Rex through the Force.

G-G seals the lab's doors behind them while R7 begins scanning Rex's brain for the chip. Unable to find it initially, Ahsoka has R7 continue searching while she bonds with Rex through the Force. She begins reciting, "I am one with the Force, and the Force is with me." Rex unconsciously joins in until the brain scan finally locates the chip. The clones outside begin breaking through the door. Ahsoka tells R7 to surgically remove the chip while she holds them off.

The clones break through before G-G is able to reseal the door. Ahsoka desperately fights back as more clones stream in. But before she is overpowered, Rex raises his pistols and blasts the troopers, allowing the door to close again. His control chip now removed, Rex apologizes for his earlier attack. Ahsoka asks how widespread these chips were. Rex tells her that all clones have them, meaning that the entire Grand Army of the Republic has now been ordered to hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights. They prepare to fight as the clones begin cutting through the door once more.
