Star Wars: The Bad Batch is an animated series from Lucasfilm that serves as both a sequel and spin-off of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The first season consists of sixteen episodes. It debuted with "Aftermath", a special 70-minute premiere, on May 4, 2021 on Disney+. The second season also consists of sixteen episode was released from January to March 2023. The third and final season debuted on February 21, 2024. The series finale, "The Cavalry Has Arrived", will release on May 1, 2024.

Premise

The series follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in The Clone Wars) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War. Members of Bad Batch -- a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army -- each possess a singular exceptional skill, which makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew. In the post-Clone War era, they will take on daring mercenary missions as they struggle to stay afloat and find new purpose.

Development

Season 1

On July 13, 2020, StarWars.com announced an all-new animated series set to debut on Disney+ in 2021 titled Star Wars: The Bad Batch. On December 10, 2020, the official Star Wars YouTube channel released a sizzle reel for the series, alongside announcements of several other Star Wars TV series airing on Disney+.

Season 2

On August 5, 2021, Disney+ announced that Star Wars: The Bad Batch had been renewed for a second season that will launch on the service in 2022. On May 29, 2022, a trailer for Season 2 confirming a fall release window was shown at Star Wars Celebration 2022 and subsequently uploaded onto YouTube.

Season 3

On April 10, 2023, at a panel for The Bad Batch during Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023, the crew announced that the series would receive a third season, which would be the last of the series. A trailer for the final season was released on January 22, 2024, announced a three-episode premiere on February 21.

Season 1

The first season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch debuted with "Aftermath", a special 70-minute premiere, on May 4, 2021 on Disney+, with subsequent episodes releasing on Fridays from May 7, 2021. It concluded with "Kamino Lost" on August 13, 2021.

Season 2

The second season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch began on January 2, 2023 and concluded on March 29, 2023 on Disney+.

Season 3

The third season, announced as the final season of the series, premiered on February 21, 2024. The season, and the series overall, will conclude on May 1, 2024, almost three years to the day after the series' debut.
