Geonosians were the native inhabitants of the planet Geonosis in the Outer Rim territories. Being an insectoid race, they possessed relatively small, slender bodies and a set wings which enabled to fly at what seem to be rather low altitudes. The Geonosian society and government were headed by a hereditary monarchy, during the Clone Wars era, this position was filled by Archduke Poggle the Lesser. This species also seemed to have their own unique form of weaponry, which was capable of manipulating gravitional forces. This combined with their ability to fly made very little sound upon approaching their enemies, making them formidable opponents for the Republic Clone Troopers. So much so that the Republic military designed a unique helmet issued to troopers fighting on Geonosis capable of detecting these subtle sound variations caused by their flapping wings.
