- "There are some citizens of the Republic, like myself, who believe the Jedi Order is not what is used to be. The Jedi have become war-mongers. They've become military weapons. And they're killing when they should be keeping the peace."
- ―Letta Turmond, to Ahsoka Tano
Letta Turmond was a female Human who lived during the Clone Wars. She lived on Coruscant with her husband, Jackar Bowmani, who worked as the munitions expert in the Jedi Temple hangar.
Biography[]
Sabotage[]
Shortly before the end of the Clone Wars, the hangar of the Jedi Temple was bombed, and Turmond's husband, who worked in the area of the explosion, was the prime suspect. As Anakin Skywalker showed his image to the Temple security guarding the exterior against protesters, Turmond recognized it and identified herself as his wife. Skywalker then took Turmond in for questioning.
Letta initially refused to believe that her husband would have orchestrated such an attack, but the nano droids discovered to be the cause of the explosion were on his remains. This revealed that he was not the bomber but that he was, in fact, the bomb itself. Upon realizing this, Skywalker and his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, went to Turmond's apartment to question her further. They did indeed find that the nano droids originated from Jackar, and they decided to take Letta back to the Temple. However, she escaped from the Jedi and attempted to flee through the underworld, but she was eventually outrun. Tano pointed out that she fled, to begin with, indicated there was more than she had told the Jedi. She then admitted that she had fed Jackar the explosives that were in his bloodstream. Skywalker and Tano apprehended her and escorted her back to the Jedi Temple for further questioning.
While her confession proved that a Jedi was not responsible for the bombing, the fact was clear that public opinion was moving against the Jedi Order.
The Jedi Who Knew Too Much[]
She asked for Ahsoka Tano to come to her cell as Ahsoka was the only person she would talk to. Clone Commander Fox brought Ahsoka to the cell, and Letta wished to speak with Ahsoka privately. Ahsoka had Fox and his men return to their station while she talked with Letta. Letta revealed that a Jedi had told her how to make the bomb, but before she could reveal the Jedi's identity, she was lifted into the air by a force choke. In the control room, a trooper noticed this and pointed it out to Fox, who led a pair of his men to the cell. Turmond had been strangled to death by the time they arrived. Fox assumed Tano was responsible and, while he felt she was justified in killing a traitor to the Republic, placed her under arrest.
