Lyco Strata was a human male Jedi Padawan who lived on the run from the Galactic Empire. After surviving Order 66, Strata went into hiding and traveled from place to place trying to stay ahead of the Empire. While trying to buy passage off a desert planet, he encountered former Separatist assassin Asajj Ventress who caught him attempting to use a Jedi mind trick. Ventress protected him from the Empire and they soon teamed up to find the Hidden Path, a secret network of surviving Jedi formed by Quinlan Vos, Jedi Knight and Ventress's former lover. Strata stayed with Ventress in their pursuit of the Path and they slowly became friends.
