- "Looks like a modified Omicron-class attack shuttle."
"It's a mess!" - ―Two clone troopers, investigating the Marauder
The Marauder was the personal transport of the elite Clone Commando squad, Clone Force 99, also known as the "Bad Batch," who used it as a mobile base of operations for their various covert operations during the Clone Wars. The Bad Batch often used the shuttle's run-down appearance to infiltrate Separatist space.
Following the war, the Bad Batch used their shuttle to travel to Onderon on a mission for the newly formed Galactic Empire. When they refused to carry out their orders, they deserted in the Marauder and went on the run. The Marauder continued to serve as their mobile base of operations and, effectively, their home, with the rear turret station converted into a room for Omega. Over time, the ship also came to be a home for the squad as they traveled the galaxy.
Behind the scenes[]
The Marauder first appeared in the Bad Batch story arc in the seventh season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. In the original story reels of that arc, the ship featured suggestive nose art of Padmé Amidala with the words "Good To Be Bad" in Aurebesh. This nose art was absent in the final release of those episodes as well as the spinoff series, Star Wars: The Bad Batch.
The shuttle was originally named "Havoc Marauder" by StarWars.com when the Bad Batch arc of The Clone Wars was first released. But since the premiere of The Bad Batch series, the ship has been referred to only as the Marauder by both StarWars.com and characters in the show, with the "Havoc" portion of the name being reworked into the squad's codenames.
