The Clone Wars

Mount Tantiss was a mountain on the planet Wayland that hosted the secret cloning facilities of the Galactic Empire. After decommissioning and destroying the facilities on Kamino, the Empire relocated its cloning operations to Tantiss Base, a secret facility built into the peak of Mount Tantiss. As headquarters for the Imperial Advanced Science Division, the installation's staff included Doctor Scalder and scientist Emerie Karr, as well as the captive Kaminoan geneticist Nala Se. The facility eventually fell under the leadership of Imperial Doctor Royce Hemlock, who planned to use Tantiss to conduct his unethical experiments for the Imperial cloning program.

Behind the scenes[]

Mount Tantiss first appeared in the 1991 novel, Star Wars: Heir to the Empire by Timothy Zahn, where it also hosted secret Imperial cloning laboratories. The background of Tantiss in that novel served as the inspiration for its role in Star Wars: The Bad Batch.
