R2-KT was an astromech used by the 501st Legion. R2-KT was assigned to the 501st Legion at the height of the war and served on board a Republic vessel attached to Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Throughout the war, "Katie" and R2 liked to meet and gossip about the war and the Republic Fleet. During the events of Rotta's kidnapping, the droid was present at a briefing of clone troopers and their Jedi commanders. The droid was also present at the Battle of Ryloth and the Sky Battle of Quell. R2-KT survived the Clone Wars and subsequently served in the Galactic Empire.

- R2-KT was created by Star Wars fans in honor of Katie Johnson, daughter of Albin Johnson, founder of the 501st Legion fan group, and makes appearances at children's hospitals in real life.
- R2-KT was originally going to be on D-Squad in the arc, beginning with Secret Weapons, but QT-KT served in place to avoid the confusion of having two Artoos on the same squad.
- R2-KT makes an appearance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
