"Peace? There was a time I believed in that. So much so, my colleague Mina Bonteri and I put forth a treaty with Separatists and Republic senators alike to end the war. Your Supreme Chancellor rejected it. I realized then, peace was never an option."
―Tawni Ames[src]

Tawni Ames was the governor of the Separatist world of Desix during the Clone Wars. After the war's end, Ames intended to keep her world independent. But the Galactic Empire annexed Desix and installed their own governor, Grotton, to rule the planet. When the new governor refused Ames's argument that Desix already separated from the Empire's predecessor state of the Galactic Republic, she activated her force of B1 Battle Droids and took Grotton hostage.

The Empire sent a strike team led by Clone Commander Cody and Clone Commando Crosshair to free governor Grotton and remove Ames from power. When the Imperial Clone Troopers swiftly overpowered her battle droids, Ames attempted to use Grotton as a shield. Commander Cody promised no harm would come to her or her people if she cooperated, adding that they were there to ensure peace. Ames recalled the time when her friend, senator Mina Bonteri drafted a peace accord during the Clone Wars, but then-Chancellor Palpatine rejected it. Ames then concluded that peace was never an option.

Nonetheless, Ames released Grotton, who immediately called for her execution. When Cody refused, Crosshair shot and killed Ames. Grotton then ordered her body to be displayed in the public square as a warning to Desix's citizens.
